My Ruby

I couldn't quite understand
What it felt like to grieve,
Until I lost you.

Now I know what it feels like
To have all this love
That you cannot give,
To have all this love

With no place to go.

Instead, it gathers up in
The corner of my eyes;
The lump in my throat;
The heaviness in my chest.

You are the Ruby of my heart
And nothing will ever change that.

Love you infinitely.
